Alexander Gustafsson, Anthony Smith on Weight Ahead of UFC Fight Night in Sweden • MMA News
The main event for UFC Fight Night in Stockholm, Sweden is
now official after both Alexander Gustafsson and Anthony Smith made weight on
Friday.
Both fighters are coming off a loss to reigning light
heavyweight champion Jon Jones so a win on Saturday is paramount if Gustafsson
or Smith hope to get back into title contention in the future.
Gustafsson was on weight early on Friday as he hit the mark
at 205 pounds with a smile on his face as he prepares to fight at home in front
of a raucous crowd that will undoubtedly be on his side.
As for Smith, he came in at 206 pounds as he stood stoic just
champing at the bit to get back into the Octagon as he attempts to wash the bad
taste of defeat from his last fight out of his mouth.
In the new co-main event, British slugger Jimi Manuwa and up
and coming light heavyweight prospect Aleksander Rakic both came in at 205
pounds.
Originally slated as a main card bout, Manuwa vs. Rakic was
bumped up to co-headline status on Thursday following an injury to Ilir Latifi
that knocked him out of his bout against Volkan Oezdemir.
All of the other fighters competing on Saturday’s card made weight
without incident.
Here are the full results for the weigh-ins from UFC Fight Night in Stockholm, Sweden.

Best bets and fights odds for next weekends UFC 238
Best bets and fights odds for next weekends UFC 238
The UFC’s lightweight division already has a champion and interim champion but UFC 238 could produce the division’s next number 1 contender.
At UFC 238 on June 8th in Chicago, Illinois the UFC will have two titles on the line. Valentina Shevchenko defends her flyweight title against Jessica Eye and Henry Cejudo fights Marlon Moraes for the vacant bantamweight title. While both fights are sure to be exciting, the most anticipated fight of the night is between former interim champ Tony Ferguson and everyone’s favorite cowboy Donald Cerrone.
Ferguson, undefeated since 2012, looks to get past the issues that have plagued him the past few years. A serious leg injury and some concerns about his mental health have prohibited him from a shot at UFC gold. Cerrone on the other hand has been extremely active. UFC 238 will mark his fourth fight in just seven months. Last competing at UFC Ottawa on May 4th where he defeated Al Iaquinta.
Champion Khabib Nurmagomedov is seemingly booked through the end of the year with bouts against Dustion Poirier and potentially George St. Pierre, but a dominating performance by with fighter could help them jump the line. Experts at SBD have Ferguson as a pretty heavy favorite at -200, with the underdog Cerrone coming in at +160. Regardless of who the favorite is on paper, this fight has the potential to be one of the best of 2019.
Check out the complete list of fight odds for the entire PPV card.
· Henry Cejudo (-105) vs Marlon Moraes (-125)
· Valentina Shevchenko (-1400) vs Jessica Eye (+750)
· Tony Ferguson (-200) vs Donald Cerrone (+160)
· Jimmie Rivera (+250) vs Peter Yan (-325)
· Tai Tuivasa (-185) vs Blagoy Ivanov (+150)

Jon Moxley Has Some Scathing Words For WWE- “Vince is Killing WWE”
Jon Moxley Has Some Scathing Words For WWE- “Vince is Killing WWE”

Jon Moxley, formerly Dean Ambrose in WWE, went on Chris Jericho’s Podcast Talk is Jericho and had no problem opening up about his issues with WWE as well as generally speaking his mind about pro wrestling, AEW, and his personal journey. We’ve embedded the full podcast below. Among the things mentioned, Moxley stated:
-Frustrations with the WWE writing team, stating was Vince the biggest problem.
-He had major issues with using Roman’s illness as heat and even confronted Vince about it. Apparently, Vince had wanted to push it even further and told him to cut a promo that Moxley said would have cost them sponsors.
– He knew he wanted to leave and didn’t even look at the new contract that WWE offered him.
– Stated that the Nia Jax angle was done to insult and embarrass him, as it was added minutes after he told them he was leaving. However, he didn’t have problems doing it.
– That the idea of showing up on Mondays made him feeling sick. He was so against the idea of staying with WWE that he was actually looking up symptoms of depression because of how poorly he felt.
– He was only paid $500 for the Shield special on the WWE Network. That’s what extras make for appearing on TV.
– He would have left WWE even if there wasn’t a rival company he could have gone to.
– Finally, that Vince and his creative process is “killing the company.”
These are just a few of the quotes and statements made and we HIGHLY recommend checking out the Podcast as it’s enlightening.

Smackdown Preview 5/28/19 – WWE Wrestling News World

Though WWE Champion Kofi Kingston may have his focus on Dolph Ziggler and their battle at WWE Super ShowDown, The Dreadlocked Dynamo still has at least one other Superstar to worry about: Kevin Owens. Though KO came up short in his WWE Title Match with Kingston at Money in the Bank, the rivalry is far from over, as evidenced by Owens’ alleged attack on New Day member Big E last Tuesday. What will happen when Kingston and Owens write the next chapter of their rivalry? Find out tonight on SmackDown LIVE at 8/7 C on USA Network!
Monday Night Raw Results 5/27/19
Monday Night Raw Results 5/27/19

In-Ring Segment
Kofi Kingston opened the show with a promo, but was interrupted by Seth Rollins. Brock Lesnar then interrupted both champions and used his Money in the Bank briefcase as a boom box playing Seth and Kofi’s entrance themes and dancing. Rollins left and then Dolph Ziggler then attacked Kingston from behind and hit Kofi with a ZigZag on the ramp. Xavier Woods made the save, and he and Ziggler brawled until Kofi recovered to make it 2 on 1. Ziggler then cut a promo saying again what he said last week, and putting over a match between him and Kofi at Super Showdown.
Backstage Segment
The Usos had a block party in a tarped off area backstage. Eventually, The Revival show up and the two teams cautiously played a game of Cornhole. The Revival cheated to win.
Shane McMahon made an entrance, then left.
A long Triple H vs. Randy Orton video package aired.
Shane McMahon came back out with Drew McIntyre and cut a promo on Roman Reigns. He challenged anyone from the Samoan Dynasty to wrestle him. Lance A’naoi, Reigns’ cousin, answered the challenge.
Shane McMahon d. Lance A’naoi
The bell rang and Drew McIntyre immediately beat Lance up, so they pretended it hadn’t started and rang the bell again. McMahon then “won” the “match” by submission and continued attacking the kid while taunting Reigns. Reigns came out and made the save.
In Ring Segment
Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman come back to the ring to announce Lesnar’s intended Money in the Bank contract match. Rollins interrupted and tried to provoke Lesnar into cashing in then and there, but Lesnar discovers he has a full year to cash in the contract and leaves.
AJ Styles was announced for the main event, but then unannounced himself due to injury. Baron Corbin will replace him. Corbin then attacked Styles.
Becky Lynch and Nikki Cross d. The IIconics.
After the match, Lacey Evans walked out and did nothing.
Ricochet d. Cesaro
Number One Contender Match: Baron Corbin d. Braun Strowman, The Miz, and Bobby Lashley. Corbin pinned Miz with the End of Days. He’ll go on to challenge for the Universal Championship at Super Showdown.
Firefly Fun House
Bray Wyatt is shown with a paper plate over his face that has a “scary” image drawn on it. Wyatt then greets the audience happily and asks if they enjoyed his secret. Wyatt likes to call him The Fiend, but he’s here to protect them. Sometimes he finds it hard to find his confidence and be brave, especially when he’s all alone. When he puts the mask on, he can be anything he wants to be. Wyatt then maniacally smiles.
Abby the Witch says Wyatt just doesn’t want the people to know what a sicko he is. Wyatt dresses up as a doctor and says the diagnosis is in: Abby the Witch is a bully. Abby says she is tired and is tired of being in limbo. Wyatt then has two kids come out with a limbo stick. Wyatt says he’ll always light the way. All they have to do is let him in. Wyatt crab walks under the limbo stick.
Sami Zayn was a guest on the “electric chair,” which for some reason is an actual electric chair in the middle of the ring that you sit in while fans ask you questions. Zayn insulted fans and name dropped AEW until Seth Rollins ran down to the ring and ran him off. That led directly to the main event.

Patricio Freire Says He’d Beat UFC Champion Max Holloway
Patricio Freire Says He’d Beat UFC Champion Max Holloway
Bellator “champ-champ” Patricio Freire feels he’d defeat Max Holloway in a “super fight.”
Freire captured the Bellator lightweight title when he finished Michael Chandler earlier this month. “Pitbull” was already the featherweight ruler. He became just the second fighter to hold two titles simultaneously under the Bellator banner.
Patricio ‘Pitbull’ Feels He Can Defeat Max Holloway
Holloway is the reigning UFC featherweight champion. Freire told MMAJunkie.com that he’d emerge victorious if he got a chance to fight Holloway:
“I’d beat him. That’s a fact. Like I was certain I’d beat Michael Chandler, I am absolutely certain I’d beat Max Holloway. For me, he’s the same Max Holloway who fought Conor McGregor – and who lost to Conor McGregor. For me, he’s that same guy, he hasn’t changed much. However, he’s very well-rounded. He’s very tall, and he utilizes his reach very well. And his boxing is very sharp. So, fighters haven’t been able to match him technically. He knocked Jose Aldo out twice with pure boxing. Speaking as a boxer, he managed to paralyze Aldo with that.”
Holloway is set to defend his featherweight gold against Frankie Edgar on July 27. The bout is expected to headline UFC 240 in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

Colby Covington Says He Would Fight Jorge Masvidal • MMA News
Both Colby Covington and Jorge Masvidal could very well be fighting for a title in the next little while. All signs point to “Chaos” fighting Usman, and if Masvidal can beat Ben Askren he would most likely get the next title shot.
But, if Covington and Masvidal win, it could complicate some things. They are best friends, and many friends don’t want to fight each other. However, Covington says they have talked about it and are willing to fight each other.
“We were talking about this at least four or five years ago,” Colby Covington said on BJPenn.com Radio. “I mean, we talked about it. That’s the epitome of a friends relationship, to be able to go for the highest honor in the sport that you chose to fight for the number one and two spot in the world. I mean, it would be an honor to fight each other. It’d be a dream come true for us both because we’re both going to make so much money. Dude, we’re fighting fucking, sparring hundreds of rounds for free in American top team.
“I mean, now we’re going to get paid $500 million,” he continued. “That’s an easy no brainer. I mean, it wouldn’t even be hard to fight him, dude. Friendship aside, this is business. We’re both here to do business… I’ll fight anybody. I don’t give a f**k who’s in front of me. I got no friends in my weight class. Yeah [Masvidal and I are] best friends right now, but as soon as the lights turn on and we’re in the big city, man, there’s no friends. I’m here to do business.”
Why they would want to fight each other is simple. They already do in training so might as well get paid for it.
“I’m telling you we fought in living rooms, in bathrooms, f**ing sparring in an ATT, in airports,” he added. “We’ve been fighting our whole lives and fighting against each other for the last couple of years for free. So, to fight for a multi six-figure paycheck, it’s a no brainer, man. There’ll be no feelings attached before and after and we’ll go back to being friends afterwards. So, may the best man win.”

Jon Moxley Appeared At AEW’s Double Or Nothing, Attacked Kenny Omega

During last night’s historic PPV event held by All Elite Wrestling, Double or Nothing, we saw Chris Jericho defeated Kenny Omega in the main event to earn an opportunity to face Hangman Page in the first ever AEW World Championship Match at a later date.
After the match, we saw former WWE star, Dean Ambrose, or know known as Jon Moxley, came throughout the crowd and into the ring. He hit Dirty Deeds on Jericho and the referee.
Moxley then turned his attention to Omega in which a brawl broke out throughout the crowd between both men. They fought onto poker chips and Moxley hit Dirty Deeds, and sent Omega plunging off to the floor to close the show.
Per Thomas Fenton, who was live at Double or Nothing, Cody announced that Moxley has signed a multi year contract with AEW.

No One Likes You, Luke • MMA News
No One Likes You, Luke • MMA News
This just in: Anthony Smith still despises Luke Rockhold.
Luke Rockhold has been critical of Anthony Smith during Smith’s rise up the light heavyweight ranks, with Rockhold believing that Smith is simply not that talented of a fighter. Smith took those comments very personally to say the least, primarily because they were unprovoked, but that did not stop Rockhold from doubling down whenever the topic of Smith has been broached in an interview. And every time Rockhold opens his mouth about him, Smith finds himself both irked and perplexed as to what Rockhold stands to gain by continuing to disrespect him:
“If you want to talk your way into a fight, that’s fine,” Smith began to MMA Junkie. “There’s ways of going about it. You don’t have to convince me. I’m not the guy that you’ve got to goad into a fight. All you’ve got to do is ask. Want to fight? Sure. Yeah. Let’s do it. That’s as far as you’ve got to go.
“And if you want to build a fight, you’re not
the (expletive) champion. So what are you building it for? You don’t get
pay-per-view points. I don’t get PPV points. You’re not making any more money
by being an (expletive). So what are we doing here? It’s a waste of time.”
Luke Rockhold has stated that he has no problem with Anthony Smith but is merely assessing Smith’s fighting ability in a candid manner. Anthony Smith finds nothing constructive or intellectual about the criticism, though, and while he believes Rockhold must have some issue with him, he is stumped as to what it could be. One thing he is confident about, though, is that there is a very real possibility that Rockhold’s perceived arrogance could backfire and soon:
“I just don’t get what his beef is, and now,
he just keeps going with it,” Smith continued. ‘Oh, Alexander Gustafsson’s
going to beat his ass.’ But maybe not, (expletive). You ever consider that?
Maybe you should focus on your fight and worry about that, because you’re going
to look real stupid if I beat Alex and you lose. Real stupid. Historically, his
(expletive) talking hasn’t worked out well for him.”
Anthony Smith would conclude by taking a moment to inform Luke Rockhold that no one affiliated with the UFC likes him. And with that being the case, Smith poses, how rewarding could a career possibly be?
“That’s why nobody likes him,” Smith stated. “Nobody in the UFC likes him. None of the staff likes him. None of the executives like him. None of the fighters like him. So he can sit pretty and eat his meals on TMZ and talk all the (expletive) all he wants. But at the end of the day, no one likes you, and sometimes that’s what matters most. It’s about how you treat people and if people respect you.”
What are your thoughts on Anthony Smith’s latest tirade on Luke
Rockhold?
Donald Cerrone Vents on Frustrating UFC 238 Negotiations • MMA News
Donald Cerrone Vents on Frustrating UFC 238 Negotiations • MMA News
In only two weeks from this Saturday at UFC 238, Tony “El Cucuy” Ferguson will make his long-awaited UFC return hen he squares off with Donald “Cowboy Cerrone in what the UFC itself is calling the “People’s Main Event.” Don’t expect any pushback from the MMA community on that labeling, but there was some from the Tony Ferguson camp during the contract negotiations to finalize the fight if you accept Donald Cerrone’s account on how the negotiations transpired and the lull between offer and signing that frustrated the usually even-tempered slugger:
“There wasn’t really any convincing that had to go on (for me),” Cerrone told MMA Junkie. “More or less the UFC called me and asked me if I wanted to fight and I said yes, then it took two or three days for Tony to agree to the fight, which really pissed me off because the UFC called me and offered to me and left me in his limbo.
“I keep calling like, ‘Dana (White), I’m on
(expletive) vacation. Can I drink beer and eat guacamole, or do you want me to
go (expletive) run on the beach? Because this in-between, I don’t know what’s
going on, is (expletive) bull(expletive).’ So Tony took long figuring it out.”
As we know, the fight got done by the grace of
the MMA gods, as we know wait for them to finalize the deal on June 8th
in the United Center. This fight will feature Tony Ferguson putting his
astonishing 11-fight win streak on the line, and Donald Cerrone believes that
fact plus the risk-to-reward ratio for Ferguson may have been what delayed this
bout’s finalization:
“I don’t think he wanted to have to fight
again other than a title fight,” Cerrone said. “I think he believes he deserves
a shot, so for him fighting someone like me is super dangerous. Why would he
want to put himself at risk of (losing) a title shot? Especially fighting a
(expletive) killer. But I don’t give a (expletive). That’s the difference
between me. I’ll fight anybody. So I’ve got to beat them all anyway.”
But Donald Cerrone won’t be fighting just “anybody.” He’ll be fighting one of the winnigest fighters in UFC history. That’s no sweat for this cowboy though, as when it comes to being on the “winningest fighters list,” Donald Cerrone is already the champion heading into this potential #1-contender bout.
What do you make of the Tony Ferguson vs. Donald Cerrone fight?
Is it the right fight for all parties?

UFC Parent Company Endeavor Officially Files to Go Public • MMA News
UFC Parent Company Endeavor Officially Files to Go Public • MMA News
Endeavor — the parent company to the UFC — has filed to go
public on the New York Stock Exchange.
The company filed paperwork with Securities and Exchange
Commission this week while offering an insight into their financial holdings
and profitability for the first time ever.
In addition to owning the UFC, Endeavor is one of the most
powerful talent agencies in Hollywood representing actors, directors,
musicians, writers as well as Endeavor Content, which has sold numerous shows
and films including ‘La La Land’ and ‘Killing Eve’.
According to the filing per the Hollywood Reporter, Endeavor generated $3.61 billion in revenue in 2018 and a net income of $231.3 million. After adjustments, the net income was $100.1 million and earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization was $551.1 million.
The filing also revealed that Endeavor CEO Ari Emanuel and
executive chairman Patrick Whitesell each made $5 million last year with $1
million in salary and another $4 million in bonuses.
According to the report, Endeavor looks to raise approximately
$500 million during the initial public offering (IPO) with the valuation of the
company at more than $6 billion.
Endeavor will be traded under the EDR symbol on the New York
Stock Exchange
“As the entertainment industry moves toward a closed
ecosystem model with less transparency, our clients and business need more
insight, resources and solutions than ever before,” Emanuel wrote in a letter
than came along with the filing. “We believe being a public company will only
further accelerate our ability to look around corners and open up new
categories and opportunities for those in the Endeavor network.”
Just recently, UFC president Dana White was asked about Endeavor
going public after rumors of the filing first surfaced.
While the UFC is just one of the companies under the Endeavor
umbrella, the organization will definitely come under more public scrutiny than
ever before with stockholders now able to indirectly own a piece of the mixed
martial arts promotion.
“I’ve never been a fan of it,” White told ‘Game On’ in Las
Vegas when asked about the UFC going public. “No, I’ve never been a fan of the
UFC going public. Could you picture me running a public company?
“Let’s take some bets on how long I last in a public
company. What’s the over/under on that one?”
As president of the UFC, White will soon become a major part
of a publicly traded company with Endeavor taking that leap in the very near
future.

Thomas Fenton Reports:
-Backstage at RAW this week, it seemed to be even more disorganized than the last few weeks with many many changes after Raw went on the air. Over the last few weeks, Vince has made a directive to try to hold fans attention throughout all 3 hours of RAW. When the Hardcore Title idea was brought up Vince liked the idea and thought it could also be used to get out of the Wildcard rule when it comes to other talent coming on a show. It will also give a spot to talent on other brands to better their future on Mondays or Fridays in the fall. As of late, WWE and Vince, in general, have become more and more concerned with the launch of AEW since the TV deal was made official. Vince, however, has been much more focused on retaining past attitude era stars than current up and coming talent. Vince was not happy at all about Undertaker doing Starrcade before he was pulled. Additionally, when talk of Goldberg and Batista headed to AEW, Vince made sure under any and all circumstances that they would only be in the WWE family. Vince feels that one of the reasons WCW picked up steam back then with TV was acquiring the household name stars. In the past 3 months, Vince has fixed or mended fences with Undertaker, Goldberg, Brock Lesnar, and Batista. All of these names carried much more weight to Vince. Vince also feels that talent who wants out and deals are not up for over 6 months out can be “negotiated and planned for at later date”. WWE locked up AJ Styles to a new deal already this year and Rollins and Roman are locked up for some time so the cornerstones are there. The real question (that will play out soon) is did Vince value signing all those ahead of resigning Dean Ambrose (Jon Moxley).
-Ambrose/Mox is currently filming a project for those asking.
-WWE is making an attempt even as early as this week to have some plans or a direction SummerSlam. WWE realizes this will be the last Big 4 PPV before the TV launch of AEW and would like to put on a very, very good and built show. John Cena’s name has been mentioned for the show, however, with filming other projects it is to early to say if he will be doing the show.

Ronda Rousey to Critics: “F*ck You Guys”

Greg Hardy vs. Juan Adams On Tap For UFC San Antonio
Greg Hardy vs. Juan Adams On Tap For UFC San Antonio
UPDATE: Sources have confirmed to MMA News that Greg Hardy vs. Juan Adams is on tap for UFC San Antonio, first reported by ESPN.
Greg Hardy vs. Juan Adams are close to putting pen to paper.
ESPN‘s Brett Okamoto reports that Hardy and Adams have agreed to a bout at UFC San Antonio. The report notes that nothing has been signed yet. UFC San Antonio will take place inside the AT&T Center on July 20.
Hardy vs. Adams – What Led To This Match-up?
Adams hasn’t been shy on his opinions of Hardy. He’s made it clear on social media that he “hates” Hardy and has ragged on the former NFL star’s competition. Hardy hasn’t responded to Adams’ remarks, but the ESPN report notes that Hardy is aware of the comments.
Hardy is coming off his first UFC victory. He stopped Dmitrii Smoliakov in the opening round of their UFC Fort Lauderdale bout. It was a rebound win for Hardy as his UFC debut against Allen Crowder ended in a disqualification loss.
Adams suffered the first loss of his professional mixed martial arts career earlier this month. He dropped a unanimous decision to Arjan Bhullar. It was also the first time Adams went the distance as a pro. Stick with MMA News for the latest UFC San Antonio updates.

Video: Watch PAC vs. Hangman Page
Video: Watch PAC vs. Hangman Page

AEW was kind enough to post this video on their official YouTube Channel. Their match took place in Nottingham, England this past weekend. Hangman Page vs. PAC from Wrestle Gate Pro. The match took place due to Page vs. PAC being off this Saturday’s Double or Nothing event. As a way to explain the cancellation PAC was originally supposed to wrestle Jody Fleisch and Robbie X at Wrestle Gate, but it was said that neither were able to make the match. PAC then cut a promo saying there’s no one on the roster or in the country who has the balls to face him, which led to Page making a surprise appearance and answering PAC’s challenge.

Cris Cyborg Explains Why She Is Interested In Felicia Spencer Fight • MMA News
Cris Cyborg Explains Why She Is Interested In Felicia Spencer Fight • MMA News
After Felicia Spencer beat Megan Anderson at UFC Rochester, former featherweight champion, Cris Cyborg was called out by the undefeated fighter. After all, there aren’t many options for fighters in the division to fight, so taking on Cyborg made too much sense.
And, it turns out that Cyborg is interested in the matchup against the now 7-0 professional. But, why she wants to fight in Edmonton in July rather than fight in Anaheim in August, which is very close to where she lives is simple.
“You know I haven’t fought, one fight in 16 months,” Cyborg said on MMA Junkie Radio. “And they make me wait nine months for Amanda, and then when they pass over that fight, five months, and then too long to fight for me.”
Although a rematch against Nunes made sense, Cyborg just wants to get back into the Octagon. One reason why she wants to get back in there soon is the fact that it will be the last fight of her contract. Meaning, if she wins she could force the UFC’s hand, or she could explore her options on the market coming off a win.
“When she’s calling me out I said cool, let’s fight,” Cyborg said. “I already have asked for fights two months after Amanda fight just to be ready and be prepared. Of course I’d like to fight in Anaheim, but I have one fight left and the Anaheim date … I’m going to be a free agent after that.”
In the end, Cyborg just wants to fight, and taking on Felicia Spencer makes too much sense not to happen.
Manager Says Khabib vs. Poirier Is Being Worked On • MMA News
Manager Says Khabib vs. Poirier Is Being Worked On • MMA News
Khabib Nurmagomedov vs. Dustin Poirier hasn’t been finalized, says Ali Abdelaziz.
Nurmagomedov is the reigning Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) lightweight title holder. Poirier captured the interim 155-pound gold last month, taking a unanimous decision victory over Max Holloway. The next move is expected to be a title unification bout, but the stage hasn’t been set just yet.
Manager Speaks On Khabib vs. Poirier
Abdelaziz, who is Nurmagomedov’s manager, appeared on MMAFighting.com‘s “The MMA Hour.” During his appearance, Abdelaziz said the “The Eagle” vs. “The Diamond” isn’t a done deal:
“We’re working on it. We’re going through a couple things, I think it’s going well. But the fight is not finalized yet. That would be a good date (Sept. 7) for Khabib to come back. Khabib, he gave me — he wants to fight September, December, and April. These are the three dates he gave me. I let the UFC know. Poirier is a great opponent. You have a lot of lightweight fights coming up. You have (Donald) Cerrone and (Tony) Ferguson coming up. You have this guy Conor (McGregor) — but it’s funny, because if Conor went out there and got a win, he might over-leap all these guys again.
“It’s a promotion, right? At the end of the day, [McGregor] wanted a rematch. We said no. Khabib said no, he said it publicly: ‘No, he’s not getting a rematch. You’ve got to go out there and just get a win.’ … Everybody knows that’s the biggest money fight you can make, and the UFC’s a company to make money. Conor got a rematch every time he lost, right, outside Floyd. But in a way, I don’t think he deserves it.
“But there’s levels to this. I like Poirier a lot as a person. I know him, I trained with him before. I know him personally, we stayed together for almost a month, trained the whole month. He’s a great guy, he’s a great opponent. He’s dangerous, he has a lot of volume. But listen, 27 people tried, 27 failed. You’re going to get put on your back, you’re going to panic, you’re going to get outworked, and you’re probably going to get finished.”
UFC 242 will be taking place in Abu Dhabi on Sept. 7. Before the event announcement was made, Nurmagomedov said he made the trip to Abu Dhabi to discuss plans with the UFC. This has led many to believe that Nurmagomedov vs. Poirier will take place at UFC 242.

Backstage, AJ Styles is being interviewed by Charlie. He says he will have to go to the back of the line, when Baron Corbin interrupts and says it’s a slap in the face that he didn’t get a title shot and AJ did. AJ slaps him. Baron tells him he will regret that and walks away.
Roman comes to the ring and is interrupted by Shane McMahon. Who says he is done with the Miz, Roman says he is done with Elias, and says the two should have a match tonight. Shane teases the crowd, then says it’s not happening. Then introduces Drew McIntyre, and says they will have a match at Super Show Down.
Miz tells Shane once he is done with McIntyre, he will come for him again. USOS vs The Revival. Revival wins after a roll up and a grab of the tights. Alexa backstage tell Nikki she did good but she didn’t win, Revival comes in screaming how they best the USOS.
After an amazing Firefly Funhouse. Alexa, along side Nikki Cross are out for a moment of bliss. Becky is the special guest, but Iiconics comes out, bash Becky because she is no longer becky2belts. Lacey comes out and says everyone should thank her for that. Becky, Nikki, & Alexa vs Iiconics & Lacey Evans. Lacey leaves the. Arch, Becky wins after a leg drop off the top rope to Billie Kay.

At last night’s Money in the Bank, the Men’s Money in the Bank Ladder ended in controversial fashion.
Earlier in the night, Triple H and WWE officials found Sami Zayn taken out and being tied upside down, and the story claimed he was taken to a close medical center.
At the end of the night, we saw Ali at the top of the ladder, but before he could grab the briefcase, Brock Lesnar’s music hit and he stormed the ring, knocking Ali off the ladder. Lesnar then set and climbed the ladder to successfully win this year’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match.

Jake Hager In Talks With AEW, Doesn’t Want To Spoil or “Step In Jon Moxley’s Shadow”
Jake Hager In Talks With AEW, Doesn’t Want To Spoil or “Step In Jon Moxley’s Shadow”

Jake Hager, or formerly know as Jack Swagger during his time in WWE, seems to keep making headlines. He was recently victorious in his Bellator fight, which moved him to a MMA record of 2-0.
Hager was recently interviewed by Ariel Helwani and discussed a possible debut at AEW’s Double or Nothing. He stated he didn’t want to step in the shadow of Jon Moxley.
Check out what he had to say down below!
“I don’t want to step in Jon Moxley’s shadow. I think that’s going to be a great debut for him, hopefully I’m still keeping my fingers crossed that’s were we see him at.”
Thomas Fenton reached out to AEW for a comment but at the time of this writing, there was no comment or response.
Ryan’s Thought: This may be a spoiler alert, or it may be pure speculation from Hager. With all of that being said, this is an interesting comment because the way he said it, it sounded like Moxley will be at Double or Nothing.

Updated: Ric Flair Hospitalized, Possibly Not as Serious As First Suspected

TMZ is reporting that Ric Flair was in the Atlanta area when something went wrong. The 70-year-old WWE legend was initially taken to the emergency room to be treated.
The specifics are unclear at this point — but we’re told the situation is “very serious.”
TMZ reached out to Ric’s camp for comment — so far, no word back.
Ric was in the hospital in 2017 where he was placed in a medically induced coma for 11 days after his intestine ruptured. Flair was in critical condition and on the verge of dying. We’re hoping it isn’t as serious as that but please, thoughts and prayers for the Flair family.
UPDATE: Conrad Thompson, Ric’s Son in Law is now saying that this was a PLANNED procedure and that things aren’t as bad as TMZ is making things out to be.

This Week’s Smackdown Live Viewership (05/14/19)

This week’s episode of Smackdown Live, which featured a main event segment of Kofi Kingston joining Kevin Owens on the KO Show, drew in an average of 1.83 million viewers.
This was down from last week’s viewership of 1.93 million viewers.
Ryan’s Thoughts: Well, the views keep on going down. In WWE’s defense, they were up against some heavy competition with the NBA Playoffs.

-At this point in the Lars Sullivan story to it’s very interesting when you look at the business dynamics of what had happened. How an independent contractor, who is not contracted by the company at the time of SOME of the incidents, was still fined by the said company. From a legal standpoint, WWE has opened a can of worms announcing such a large fine. While there is little doubt that the fine is a legitimate one (not a storyline work) it will be interesting to see how the fine is structured throughout Lars’s salary with the company. It will be also interesting to see how this plays out on TV. Will Lars push be diminished at all, will he be held off for a little while throughout this?
WWE also open themselves up to issues with other superstars in the past that may have said certain things on social media that shouldn’t have. Will these Superstars also have to take sensitivity training? Well WWE typically does what they want to from a legal standpoint, I’m not sure many of these things would really hold up in court if somebody would press the matter.
-Bray Wyatt has been given a ton of credit for how well the new character/gimmick has gotten over and how well the new character has come across on TV. In addition to Bray doing his absolute best to practice and rehearse many of these skits, he is also helping in writing and developing this character. As we saw this past Monday on Raw, Bray debuted a new mask which turned him into a wicked clown. It’s funny to know that Vince is truly wanted a wicked clown gimmick in the company for a very long time ever since doing one failed. However, in this version and how it’s portrayed, it will work and I think it’s a win-win from that situation. Now, if this will be something that Bray Wyatt transforms into during maybe a promo or before he comes out for a match is still very undetermined.
Thomas Fenton’s Thoughts: This gimmick has been an absolute homerun so far, it has so many more layers of attention than any other character in WWE. It is also different and different at this point is very good. Now, this gimmick and role are just getting started and let’s remember it has not hit in the ring yet. The in-ring role will have to be as different as the character. I think Bray is devoted to making sure this is a hit and has been working on that aspect as well.
-As of this past week, there have been as many as three Impact current talent who have asked for their release from the company. While some of these names have already come to surface, it is interesting that some names even recently signed deals. One notable worker is a bigger star in Impact and was looking for their release so they could pursue work outside of Impact. The interesting part, however, is this person was not seeking to go work for WWE. At the time of writing this person was not granted their release nor was anyone in reference to above.
-With the return to Saudi Arabia look for WWE to bring almost the entire roster with them, with the exclusions of the main wrestlers who will not go such as a Daniel Bryan or a John Cena. There could be as many as 75 wrestlers on the show considering the length of the show and the 50 people in Royal Rumble. As the show grows closer WWE does expect to get a little bit of backlash from working in Saudi Arabia like they did last year, however, they’re happy with the small amount of negative feedback they’ve received this year vs. the large amount from last year.
-While Superstars are on an overseas tour, WWE creative team at home is still feverishly booking for the future. Vince McMahon has been extremely demanding over these last several weeks, more than normal. In regards to “what to do next” he is constantly looking for a big angle that will help spike ratings. Frustratingly, though, reports are saying that Vince is not listening to almost any ideas from the writers. Some writers are said to be working up to 80 hour work weeks these past few weeks and constantly on the go.
