Brock Lesnar Retiring From UFC And MMA?

Brock Lesnar Retiring From UFC And MMA?

For the longest time, it seemed that former Universal Champion, Brock Lesnar, was in line with a return to the octagon for UFC to fight Daniel Cormier. The two had a confrontation at UFC 226 in which Brock charged the Octagon and got into a shoving contest with Cormier.

During a recent interview with ESPN, President of UFC, Dana White, confirmed that Brock was done fighting and that he is retired. He then added that they were heading into another direction with Daniel Cormier.

This could be one of those times where Dana White is done playing games or Brock is actually retiring from fighting. We will know for sure in a few weeks if Brock is retiring if he drops out of the USDA Testing Pool.

What will Brock use as negotiating tools and are others interested? The answer is yes and we are sure Brock, like any other business man, will have his ears open.

Smackdown Live Results (04/30/19) – WWE Wrestling News World

Live From Columbus, Ohio!

The show opened with Kofi Kingston coming to the ring and being interviewed by Michael Cole. Cole and Kofi went over the past two months and his road to becoming WWE Champion. Kingston said it was one of the best days of his life besides his kids being born and getting married to his wife. The attention was then turned to Kevin Owens attacking Kofi last week. This then prompted Kofi challenging Owens at Money in the Bank, putting his WWE Championship on the line.

Kevin Owens then made his way out to the ramp and accepted. He said Kofi isn’t championship material. Xavier Woods then came out from behind and attacked Owens. KO then hit a superkick on Woods to send him to the floor. Kofi ran up the ramp and then KO sprinted off.

Kofi checked on Woods to head into break….(c)

Backstage, Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods were in the trainers’ room. Kingston told Xavier to take care of himself and said he will take care of Kevin Owens for the New Day.

Becky Lynch defeated Bayley

After the match, Charlotte Flair charged the ring and took out both Lynch and Bayley, hitting a big boot on Lynch and throwing Bayley into the ring-post….

The Hardy Boyz then made their way out to the ring, Jeff Hardy using one crutch. The two will be discussing the future of their tag team title reign next! (c)

The Hardyz were in the ring and they showed video of when Lars Sullivan attacked the duo. Jeff said he will be out for a while and will have to go through surgery. Matt then said the two will have to give up their tag team championships. Jeff said this will not be the end for the Hardyz and that he will be back better than ever. This brought out Sullivan, who took out Matt. He went for Jeff but Matt came back in to save his brother. He was then once taken out. He turned his attention to Jeff but R-Truth came out with a chair to attack him. Lars then took Truth out and hit two power slams on him……

Roman Reigns made his way to the ring. He said he knocked out Mr McMahon to make a first impression and that he was still the Big Dog and that it’s his yard now. Shane McMahon then made his way out and mocked Reigns. He said everyone knows he is the best in the world and that the McMahon family owns all the land. Reigns said that his daddy owns the land and when he was in the ring with him he was on the floor. Shane then said Reigns was in the middle of the ring laying. Reigns questioned if he could do it without the help of Elias. He said he would but needs to train for his match against Miz at Money in the Bank. Bellator Announces Rory MacDonald vs. Neiman Gracie • MMA News

Rory MacDonald will not be retiring for now.

Bellator has announced that MacDonald will meet Neiman Gracie in the semifinals of the Bellator Welterweight World Grand Prix. MacDonald’s 170-pound gold will be on the line. MacDonald advanced to the semifinals following a majority draw against Jon Fitch. Since MacDonald retained his title, he was the one who moved on in the tournament.

Rory MacDonald Speaks On Fighting Future

MacDonald turned many heads when he questioned his ability to channel his willingness to hurt an opponent during a post-fight interview. In a Bellator press release, MacDonald cleared the air:

“I want to take the time to thank everybody who had the chance to see my fight last weekend and share that candid moment I had in the Bellator cage with John McCarthy. I felt an internal struggle during the fight I never experienced before. I have always enjoyed my time in the cage by expressing my techniques in full out combat against another top-level fighter, but this time I wasn’t enjoying it. It felt more like a job than the satisfaction I am used to feeling by being dominant and applying what I have practiced to defeat someone.

“Even during my dominant moments, I felt I was completing a task and these feelings were a bit confusing to me because it’s new. I used to fight with anger I held within myself from pain I had experienced in my past. To be honest, I believe this comes from my heart changing as I’m walking a new life as a Christian. The Lord has given me peace and freedom from the pain that haunted me in my heart from my younger years. I would only satisfy myself for a short period of time from winning fights until the feeling would resonate in me again. So, now I don’t feel the same emotions I have in the past while competing.

“I still and will always have a passion for martial arts and do not believe, as a Christian, that it’s wrong for myself to compete in a professional sport that is violent. In fact, I’m happy to testify about being a Christian on this platform I’ve been given. To be clear, I am not retiring from my professional MMA career, I’ve always been true and honest in the sport and I spoke from the heart.

“As for my career at the moment. I am going to move forward in this tournament and compete boldly against Neiman Gracie in New York at MSG on June 14. Thank you for your support and all the kind messages I’ve received after this sentimental moment I had for all to see after 14 years of being in this sport.”

Match Set For Money In The Bank

During this week’s episode of Monday Night Raw, the feud between The Miz and Shane McMahon continued as Shane cost Miz a loss to Bobby Lashley. This followed up by Shane put ng the boots and punches to The Miz and left him laying in the middle of the ring.

Later in the night, The Miz challenged Shane McMahon to a match at Money in the Bank, a WrestleMania rematch. This time around, Miz challenged him in a Steel Cage Match.

Shane later responded to Miz on Twitter, accepting the challenge. He went on to say he would buy George Mizanin a front row ticket to the show to see the bout between the two.

Wangek vs. Estrada • MMA News

Tonight (Fri. April 26, 2019) WBC super flyweight champion Srisaket Sor Rungvisai (also known as Wisaksil Wangek) defends his title. He’ll step into the ring against Juan Francisco Estrada.

The pair headline a great night of boxing inside The Forum in Inglewood, California. Wangek will defend his WBC, The Ring, and lineal super flyweight titles. Wangek has been undefeated since 2014, and has ruled the super flyweight division since 2017. He’ll be taking on Estrada, who is on a two-fight win streak.

Estrada had a 10-fight win streak snapped by Wangek in 2018. Wangek took home a Majority Decision victory after their initial meeting. Now, Estrada gets his opportunity at redemption and a second crack at the super flyweight throne. As for Wangek, he’s out to prove he’s undoubtedly the better fighter between the pair when he attempts to get the job done a second time.

Check out MMA News’ results from Wangek vs. Estrada here:

  • Super flyweight: (C) Wisaksil Wangek vs. Juan Francisco Estrada
  • Super bantamweight: (C) Daniel Roman vs. (C) TJ Doheny **for IBF and WBA Super Bantamweight Titles**

Confidence Level Scale:

1: Gun to the head, forced to choose

2: Minimum confidence

3-4: A small level of confidence

5-6: Significantly clearer path to
victory for one person.

7 – Strong confidence.

8-9: Extremely confident.

10 – Bulletproof confidence, barring
freak occurrence

Roosevelt Roberts (7-0) vs. Thomas Gifford (17-7)

The first bout of the main card will feature Thomas Gifford making his UFC debut against the undefeated Roosevelt Roberts. If Gifford’s debut is going to be a successful one, he will have his work cut out for him. He will need to continuously emphasize the long jab, which will be made by possible by Gifford being one of the few lightweights with a reach advantage over the rangy Roberts.  But the work Gifford will be required to put in will all be for naught if Roosevelt is able to use his vastly superior wrestling to take the fight to the ground. But paradoxically, Gifford’s largest area of concern in this bout is also his biggest path to victory: the grappling department. Because while Roosevelt Roberts is the far bigger threat in the grappling department, Thomas Gifford has a mean guillotine that when dry in the first round, could definitely rear its and Roosevelt’s head in an upset victory.

Aside from that,
Gifford could also manage to exceed my expectations and keep the fight standing,
at which point the former boxer could potentially eek out a decision victory.
However, that’s not what I’m expecting to take place. I’m expecting Roosevelt
Roberts to extend his undefeated record to 8-0 by holding his own on the feet
with his strong counterstriking, and whenever he feels like it, taking it to
the mat, perhaps with a body lock takedown. And while Gifford may have a mean
guillotine, Roberts is the better overall submission grappler as well. Look for
Roberts to be able to pass guard rather easily and, at some point, get the
finish if the fight does indeed go to grappling realm.

Prediction: Roosevelt Roberts

Confidence Level: 8/10

John Lineker (31-8) vs. Cory Sandhagen (10-1)

Will Cory
Sandhagen be able to remain unbeaten in the UFC when he faces by far his
toughest test to date in John Lineker? This is a massive step up in competition
for Sandhagen, who’s last outing was against the Wikipedia page-less Mario
Bautista. Sandhagen has impressed in his three outings, though, including
earning Fight of the Night honors in his classic encounter against Iuri
Alcantara last August. Heading into his fight with John Lineker, an important
statistic to note is that Sandhagen has never been knocked out. With John “The
Hookmaster” Lineker swinging for the fences, that fact about Sandhagen could
lend a degree of confidence for those who are picking the Coloradan. But what
should give them even more confidence is the pronounced speed advantage that
Sandhagen have over Lineker, as well as posting a higher volume of striking
output than Lineker, who usually attacks in flurries. Additionally, Sandhagen’s
effective jab and stance switching could certainly pose problems for the
flat-footed Linker who often attacks in a straight line.

Indeed, if you’re picking Sandhagen, you certainly have reasons to be confident, but my confidence is going the other way. Sandhagen has paths to victory, as noted, but I just see Lineker bulldozing that path with a destruction that only the “Hands of Stone” can guide. John Lineker has yet to lose a striking battle in the UFC, nor has he been finished by strikes, and he is much, much more experienced without even sacrificing age. Here’s a fun fact: John Lineker has 28 more fights than Cory Sandhagen and is only one year older! Even if it’s only in one flurry per round, I believe Lineker will continually walk Sandhagen down, land the biggest blows in each round, overwhelm Sandhagen, and earn the victory, finish or not.

Prediction: John Lineker

Confidence Level: 6/10

Glover Teixeira (28-7) vs. Ion Cutelaba (14-3, 1 NC)

Ion Cutelaba will have a golden opportunity to become
a ranked light heavyweight when he takes on the #11-ranked and a much more
experienced Glover Teixeira. The question is whether “experienced” is the most
apt word or if “over-the-hill” would be a more fitting adjective. The answer is
probably somewhere in the middle.

I’m convinced that a 2014 or 2015 Glover Teixeira vs.
Ion Cutelaba has a much different line than the one posted as of this writing, which
is virtually a pick-em, after Cutelaba had been favored for the majority of the
week. Glover is not the same fighter as he was in his prime, but he still has
plenty left to give and is a very difficult matchup for Cutelaba.

Cutelaba is a fighter who harmonizes adrenaline with bad intentions and sometimes what gets lost in that equation is precise calculations. Cutelaba is known to overcommit on his strikes, leaving himself vulnerable for takedowns, and also for going full steam in the early-goings of a fight until he is running on empty.

Cutelaba’s ground game was very impressive against
another dangerous grappler in Gadzhimurad Antigulov in his last fight. Though
Antigulov was able to take him down, Cutelaba’s ability to return to his feet
was very impressive and after making it back up, his takedown defense was able
to hold up. This was no accident. Because while Cutelaba may often fight like a
wildman with no formal discipline, in actuality, the man is a former national
judo champion.

In spite of that judo background, I do expect Glover
to be able to time takedowns and to implement his black belt in jiu-jitsu.
There definitely could be some scares for Glover, though, as he is certainly
very hittable and Cutelaba packs a hell of a wallop. But in all of his 35
fights, Glover has only been knocked out three times: once came in his
professional MMA debut, once came to the freak of nature known as Anthony
Johnson, and the third came to a man whom many believe to this day is one of
the top three light heavyweights in the world, Alexander Gustafsson, who was
fighting in peak form at the time of that bout. So I believe that Glover will
be able to survive the scares, much like he did against Karl Roberson, and be
able to earn a submission or grappling-heavy victory. Heck, he may even earn a
surprise counter-KO like the Glover of old.

Prediction:
Glover Teixeira

Confidence
Level: 4/10

Alex Oliveira (19-6-1) vs. Mike Perry (12-4)

Many fans have been guilty of overestimating Mike Perry in the past, and in my estimation, though not on the same scale, they continue to do so. Mike Perry’s path to victory is one-strike KO power, but he’s not an elite KO artist the likes of Francis Ngannou, Anthony Johnson, Derrick Lewis, etc. Granted, most elite one-strike KO artists, such as the names listed above, are in the higher weight classes, but that does not change the fact that if you only have one path to victory, you should be elite at whatever that path is. I’d rate Perry’s KO artistry at a solid B. But going against a customer as tough as “Cowboy” Oliveira, I think that grade would need to be higher for there to be justified confidence in Perry.

Having said that, a B-level KO artist still has a very
viable path to victory, which is always the narrative around Mike Perry. For
that reason, he always has an above average “puncher’s chance” because his KO
punching is indeed clearly above average. But I expect Oliveira to use his
experience and have a game plan instead of fighting fire with fire against the
heavy-handed Perry. I expect Oliveira’s movement to cause problems for the
flat-footed Perry, and for him to also land more volume against the fan
favorite. Oliveira will come into the fight with a major speed advantage, but
if he is not careful, his hittable ways will come back to haunt him against
Mike Perry, a headhunter who is also capable of lethal explosions.

But given that Oliveira has more weapons, including a
better kicking game, higher output, and more experience, he should be able to
get the job done and hand Perry his fourth loss in five fights. The biggest
concern for those putting money on him is if he throws technique and game
planning out the window and gets into a brawl with Perry, which is a legitimate
possibility. That’s not to say that Oliveira could not win a brawl against
Perry, but it is this scenario where the current odds would become accurate.

Prediction:
Alex Oliveira

Level: 5/10

Greg Hardy (3-1) vs. Dmitrii Smoliakov (9-2)

When a 3-1 MMA fighter manages to be a -345 favorite
coming into a fight, that should always lead the observer to consider why that
is. In this case, it’s because the one loss from the fighter was due to a
disqualification and that the fighter is, in actuality, a superior athlete who
once competed in the most popular sport in the country at the highest possible
level. And it is this athleticism combined with his strength that could make
Hardy a very difficult man to take to the canvas, something we saw flashes of
in Hardy’s UFC debut against Allen Crowder.

Hardy’s approach to this fight will be no secret. He
will look to run through Smoliakov in a street-fight-style battle. And if
Smoliakov leaves his hands down low which he is accustomed to doing, and if he
gets off to a slow start with low-impact strikes, Greg Hardy will have every
opportunity to mow him down in the first round. Smoliakov is a Master of Sport
in freestyle wrestling, so even though we may not have seen any trace of this
in the UFC thus far, this could definitely be a fight that provides us a much
larger sample size of Greg Hardy’s takedown defense.

Prediction:
Greg Hardy

Confidence:
5/10

Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza (26-6) vs. Jack Hermansson (19-4)

Much like Cory Sandhagen, Jack Hermansson will be
making a huge leap up in competition when he takes on Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza in
the evening’s headliner. Jacare Souza has fought nothing but the best of the
best since entering the UFC, with his only three UFC losses coming to current
champion Robert Whittaker, Yoel Romero, and Kelvin Gastelum, with the latter
two being controversial split decisions. With all due respect to Jack
Hermansson, I see nothing stylistically that leads me to believe he will be
joining this exclusive list.

Jack Hermansson’s hunger is transparent, and his
urgency to step in on short notice to face an animal like Jacare reflects that.
But Jacare Souza is also hungry. He’s a man who has been waiting for a title
shot for years and has constantly been within reach of it. Now you’re telling
him that he’s one fight away from being promised one? If anything, I believe
Souza to be the hungrier fighter, thus negating one of Hermansson’s biggest
intangibles coming into this contest.

If this fight stays on the feet, I do not expect
Hermansson to be able to match Jacare’s power. If this fight goes to the mat,
which is what Jacare will most likely look to do, he will look to hand Jack
Hermansson his third submission loss while picking up a 15th
submission victory for himself. I expect this fight to look similar to the
Thales Leites vs. Jack Hermansson bout, sans the heroic comeback from
Hermansson. Jacare Souza is excellent at closing the distance, and I expect him
to do just that, and thus nullify Hermansson’s length. And while I’m confident
Jacare could stand with Hermansson for as long as necessary, I expect the wise
veteran to take the fight to the mat, where the battle will be one-sided and
Hermansson will find himself imprisoned by the gator’s entrapment.

Prediction:
Jacare Souza

Smackdown Live Viewership (04/23/19) – WWE Wrestling News World

This past week’s episode of Smackdown Live, which featured a main event of WWE Champion, Kofi Kingston, take on Shinsuke Nakamura. Not much longer after the match started, chaos erupted and we saw Kevin Owens take out Kingston and Xavier Woods. The show drew in an average of 2.072 million viewers, decreasing from last week’s viewership of 2.19 million viewers.

Backstage News: Where Will Bray End Up, Updates on WWE’s Injured Superstars, Joey Ryan/WWE Talk, Austin Theory

The following article is part of our premium news section. If you’re interested in this news and you’re not a premium subscriber, why not give it a try? We put out breaking premium news and backstage news on a frequent basis that we can 100% confirm. If you ARE a premium member, welcome back! Thanks for helping us do what we do.

-Killian Dain and Bray Wyatt are still without a permanent home and remain “undrafted.” WWE is taking the same approach with them they took with the NXT Superstars who were called up. Wait a bit, try them out on both shows, and see which they fit better on.  WWE originally planned on putting Wyatt on Raw, but with all the chaos from the Shake-Up, WWE has shifted into more of a neutral stance between Raw and Smackdown.

-The injury list continues to build up behind the scenes in WWE. Sheamus, Daniel Bryan, AJ Styles, and Jeff Hardy are on the top of the list and it has many people asking questions. These things happen when there are several top workers out on injury at the same time. People start to wonder if WWE isn’t pushing their stars too hard and too many dates. AJ is still working the loop but is still not at 100%. He is working through the pain and healing the slow way. Jeff Hardy suffered a lower-body injury that is likely going to sideline him for an undisclosed time. It’s likely that WWE is going to move the belts of the Hardy Boyz soon. Daniel Bryan’s injury status is still on radio silence. WWE is keeping things close to the chest on this one. WWE has to know, or assume, at this point, Bryan will not be coming back soon. They made the call to turn Kevin Owens heel knowing that they’re down one major heel. Unfortunately, no news is NOT good news in the case of Daniel Bryan. If WWE knew his timeline for return, or even if the severity of the situation was manageable they’d say something. Sheamus is recovering from multiple injuries and in addition to this, his back could also use some time to rest. We reported months ago that Sheamus was suffering from back pain and would be taking time off. He pushed through like a champ, but things kept stacking up and WWE saw the Shake Up as a good opportunity to give him some time off.

-Multiple sources have also jumped in on the Joey Ryan/WWE talks. Roughly a week ago, our own Thomas Fenton had mentioned, “Multiple companies are now interested in Ryan that he is a free agent, including WWE. WWE sees huge value in him in a backstage role when he is done wrestling. Ryan, however, is most likely headed to AEW. However, we will wait and see until offers are made.” Other outlets have confirmed and picked this up. At the end of the day, it will come down to what Joey wants to do long term.

-While not defined as a tryout match, Adam Cole and Austin Theory wrestled a match at Evolve in Livonia, Michigan in a few weeks ago and could be as seen as a match that really separates Theory as a top talent. The sky is the limit for Austin Theory and many think we will see him in NXT sooner rather than later.

Ask WNW: Could CM Punk Be Returning to WWE, Will Becky Drop a Championship Soon, Why Kofi Over R-Truth, Shake-Up Taking Two Weeks?

Ask WNW: Could CM Punk Be Returning to WWE, Will Becky Drop a Championship Soon, Why Kofi Over R-Truth, Shake-Up Taking Two Weeks?

What are the chances that this whole “Best in the World” thing with Shane has been a “work” in the making for so long to bring CM Punk back? Especially with Punk recently surfacing in the indies a few days ago.

I can tell you, as a HUGE CM Punk fan, that the chances of CM Punk returning to the WWE are slim to none. Is it possible he returns to professional wrestling? Perhaps. I could certainly see him working for AEW or another company that would allow him to continue his MMA dreams, as well. If anything, it might just be a way for the McMahons to throw a small jab at CM Punk and Chris Jericho for leaving. I wish I could tell you that Punk recently “appearing” at an indy show was good news for his fans. However, it’s likely a more random occurrence he did for fun. He even said years ago if he ever came back to wrestling it would be a small promotion and he’d be under a mask. That’s exactly what he did.

Do you think Becky “Two Belts” loses one of her championships at MITB, if so to who?

I’ve heard the plan is to let Becky run with both belts until SummerSlam or so. However, these things are always likely to change. If Becky were to lose at Money in the Bank, which I don’t think she will, I would say it’s likely she loses to Charlotte rather than Lacey Evans. Although, if Evans were to win it’d be a great way to start off her main roster career. I think it’s too soon for Becky to drop either championship and she should get a good run with both. Hopefully, WWE sticks with their original plan to leave both titles on until at least SummerSlam.

Thanks for watching!Visit Website

Why did Kofi get the push and not R-Truth? He’s been there longer, and the fans would fall in love with it. Especially with his ‘crazy” gimmick!

Let’s be clear, WWE originally had no plans to push Kofi. Anyone in WWE (or elsewhere) is lying. Kofi was meant to fill the extra spot in the Elimination Chamber and that’s it. However, it was the continued, massive support from the fans that forced WWE to push Kofi to the top of the mountain at WrestleMania. Could the same have happened if R-Truth had been put in that spot instead of Kofi? Perhaps. However, I think that it was Kofi’s individual support, along with support of New Day as a whole, mixed with never having had a WWE Championship match in his 11-year career that combined for the perfect Cinderella story that got fans so revved up. It helped to see how passionate Big E and Xavier Woods were in support of Kofi. It almost showed fans how passionate they should be for Kofi.

Thoughts on the continued Shakeup after the advertised 2-day event?

Honestly, it makes WWE look awful in my personal opinion. At the end of the day, it won’t make much of a difference. However, it just goes to show how terribly disorganized and last minute the booking in WWE is. Also, I’ve always been more partial to the “WWE Draft Lottery” rather than a Shake-Up. The Draft Lottery builds excitement with each new person traded from show to show at random, instead of just having the random Superstar come out, which seems anti-climactic. It also would have been easy to fix the issues they had this year by saying that the brands were allowed to make trades after the initial Draft Lottery.

Jeff Novitzky Hopes T.J. Dillashaw Serves as Cautionary Tale for All UFC Fighters • MMA News

Jeff Novitzky Hopes T.J. Dillashaw Serves as Cautionary Tale for All UFC Fighters • MMA News

There are a lot of takeaways from T.J. Dillashaw’s recent
positive drug test that cost him two years of his career but if nothing else it
should serve as a cautionary tale to every fighter currently occupying a spot
on the UFC roster.

Less than six months ago, Dillashaw was hailed as arguably
the greatest bantamweight fighter of all time with a chance to become a
two-division champion on the horizon as he prepared to move down to 125 pounds
to challenge for the flyweight strap.

Now Dillashaw will have to sit out until 2021 after using
EPO prior to his 32-second knockout loss to Henry Cejudo in January.

“There’s a couple things to say. No. 1, I’m not in this
position to rub salt in the wounds. T.J. is now suspended for two years, which
I think is very significant,” UFC vice president of athlete health and performance
Jeff Novitzky said about Dillashaw when speaking to the UFC Unfiltered podcast.
“He’s definitely taking a beating publicly. I do think there is something to be
said about admitting right away a wrongdoing and guilt, which he did very
quickly here.

“Hopefully other fighters see that and say hey we’re not fooling
around with this program, it doesn’t matter where you fall on the UFC roster, whether
you’re a current champion or a former champion or your first fight in the UFC,
everybody is treated equally and anyone runs afoul of the program, they’re
going to be sanctioned accordingly.”

When Dillashaw initially tested positive and faced a
one-year suspension from the New York State Athletic Commission, he made a statement
revealing partial information about his doping case and relinquished the UFC
bantamweight title.

Following the USADA release that he tested positive for EPO
and had been suspended for two years, Dillashaw released a second statement
apologizing for his wrongdoing and accepting fault for his mistake.

“I’ve dealt with hundreds of athletes that have used, have
got caught red-handed and not everybody has done what T.J. has done,” Novitzky
said. “Others will deny it to their grave.”

More than anything else surrounding this latest high profile
doping case, Novitzky says that it’s proof that the program is working and that’s
vital considering the physicality in a sport such as mixed martial arts.

 “This sport and this
is why I love this sport so much and feel so proud of what we’re doing here,”
Novitzky explained. “The importance of anti-doping in this sport far outweighs
any other sport in the world, in my opinion, in my experience.”

Backstage News Coming From Last Night’s Raw And Stars Switching Back Brands

Thomas Fenton Reports

There was a multitude of issues backstage at last night’s Monday Night Raw, with many being attributed to the script being rewritten all the way until the start of the show. Well why did this happen, people may ask? The answer is simple and complicated at the same time. The simple answer is that the right hand was not talking to the left hand, and a prime example of this would be the introduction of Raw announcing the two triple threat matches, only to have a segment in which those matches were revealed. Communication was off and it showed. To make matters more complicated involving the rosters an hour before the start of the show. Andrade and Zelina Vega move to Smackdown Live was politically done to appease all parties, and I will leave it at that. Aleister Black then went to Smackdown Live due to his real life wife, Zelina Vega, was moving with Andrade to the blue brand. Cesaro moving over to Raw was probably an offset of the switching and Joe was obviously going to Raw as discussed last week. To keep complicating things, WWE listened to their audience and The Viking Express is no more. This was also a last minute decision and on a Monday afternoon their first names being changed were discussed. It looks as though minor changes were made in the first names. This caused for some graphics to be changed as well as rewrites. The final call to have Bray on Raw, which was probably his landing spot, but was decided when Andrade and Black went to Smackdown. As of this writing, I’m told the potential for more moves or changes is not out of question.

Robert Whittaker Wants Adesanya Fight On Same Card As Khabib vs. Poirier • MMA News

Robert Whittaker’s next match-up is set. Israel Adesanya captured the interim UFC middleweight title when he defeated Kelvin Gastelum at UFC 236 earlier this month. Now, he’ll face Whittaker in a unification bout at some point down the road.

UFC President Dana White has said he wants to make that fight in a stadium within Australia. It has the potential to be one of the biggest sporting events in the country’s history. Recently, Whittaker took to Instagram to hype the match-up. He said he’d love a Sydney stadium fight venue, with Khabib Nurmagomedov and Dustin Poirier’s lightweight unification bout on the same card:

Dustin Poirier also captured an interim title at UFC 236. He defeated featherweight champion Max Holloway for the strap. Now, Poirier will welcome “The Eagle” back once his suspension is lifted this summer. However, the UFC apparently wants that match-up for a pay-per-view (PPV) in Abu Dhabi.

Would you like to see Whittaker vs. Adesanya on the same card as Khabib vs. Poirier?

Ask WNW: CM Punk Back In The Ring, What’s Next For Ambrose? Dustin Rhodes In AEW, Brand Split Ending?

Ask WNW: CM Punk Back In The Ring, What’s Next For Ambrose? Dustin Rhodes In AEW, Brand Split Ending?

What are your thoughts on CM Punk returning to the ring under a mask and going under the radar?

For those who missed it, it appeared that CM Punk did indeed return to the ring (Not WWE), at an independent show over the weekend in Wisconsin. Punk ran interference towards the end of the match, face covered with a mask, and wore a sweatshirt, gloves and pants. He was covered head to toe. Silas Young, who has been friends with Punk back in there days in ROH, has a promotion ‘MKE Wrestling’ and it’s based out in the state of Wisconsin. Punk, who currently resides in Wisconsin, said that he would return to the ring if he was in a ‘ninja’ outfit wrestling one of his buddies. Young went on later to say that a ‘Punk’ interrupted the show as well. Putting all the pieces to the puzzle, I have no other belief that Punk was the one behind the mask and delivered a GTS. If that’s what he wants to do and makes him happy, then I say it’s awesome.

What’s next for Dean Ambrose?

This situation has gone back and forth since WWE announced months ago that Dean Ambrose would not be resigning with the company. At first, I thought it was a swerve, but now that they did a sendoff for Ambrose and the Shield, I’m not so sure anymore. Reports have gone out that he is AEW bound, while others have said that he could be retiring. I don’t believe either. I see it as a situation where he is burnt out and needs a nice break. I’m sure Ambrose will be back with the company. I mean, when was the last time WWE did a send off for a superstar that was leaving the company? I can’t think of anything. I see him taking a break to rest up from all the years and hard work he has put into the business, then coming back to WWE and getting the push he truly deserves. Only Dean Ambrose knows what he’s going to do, we are just along for the ride.

What do you think about AEW repeating a Dustin vs Cody match since we have already seen one in WWE?

If my memories serves correct, but in WWE, we saw a Goldust and Stardust match and not a Dustin Rhodes vs Cody Rhodes. The two deserved a real feud with a great story they have the chance to tell in AEW. Not only that, but Dustin can go and gets better as he gets older. He was never pushed like he should have, and was kept around the mid-card as Goldust. The Goldust character is phenomenal and I love it, don’t get me wrong, but we all have a chance to see Dustin Rhodes as himself, getting the spot light he rightfully deserves. There’s no better matchup then to have him face his brother, Cody. When they announced it Saturday, it automatically felt like a must see match at Double or Nothing and it’s the match I’m most excited to see. It’s main event worthy.

With the winner takes all for both the Raw and Smackdown Live Women’s Championship, the men’s championships are set to follow. So is the brand split coming to an end?

If the brand split was coming to an end, we would not have had a Superstar ShakeUp last week on Raw and Smackdown Live. The reason why we saw the winner take all Match was due to WWE wanting this main event match to be one of the biggest in the company history. We had three of the biggest stars in Becky, Ronda and Charlotte, with both of the women’s titles. Why wouldn’t they have winner take all? I don’t see WWE ending the brand split anytime soon and especially when it comes to them merging the men’s titles. In Becky Lynch’s situation, she will be pulling double duty, going back and forth to both brands, defending both championships.

Aleister Black and Andrade Moved Back To Smackdown Live (Updated)

Aleister Black and Andrade Moved Back To Smackdown Live (Updated)

Aleister Black and Andrade have both been moved back to the Smackdown roster on WWE.com.  This could easily be a mistake made by WWE’s website staff.  However, it’s interesting to note that they had been moved to the Raw Superstars section and were moved BACK to Smackdown.  It’s very possible that Fox reached out to WWE wanting Smackdown to be even more stacked leading into Smackdown’s move to Fox. In turn, WWE moved a few more members of the roster back.  We’ll know for sure if the changes on the website were done by mistake or intentionally after Raw and Smackdown this week.

Update: It seems the move was done intentionally.  Fox wanted a latino star on Smackdown and with Zelina Vega going back to Smackdown, Aleister Black went too because of their real life marriage.  We’re hearing Raw will get Cesaro and Samoa Joe in return.
